Former first lady Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi dies at 97

  Wife of late Nigerian Military Head of State, Major General J.T.U. Aguiyi-Ironsi, Victoria, is dead. The former First Lady died peacefully on Monday morning, August 23 at the age of 97. She would have been 98 on November 21, 2021. Her husband, and the Supreme Commander of the National Military Government, was killed on July 29, 1966. Chief Mrs. Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi never re-married.

They began sharing their stories after a Twitter user revealed that a friend of hers went into a trance in church yesterday, August 22, and she will likely stay that way for 7 days, meaning she will miss her exams which start today. Usually, white garment church members who go into a ''trance'' stay that way for days. Other white garment church members, including Celestial Church members and Cherubim & Seraphim members, responded, saying the friend has nothing to worry about because the God who she is serving will 'take care of her exams.' They then narrated how they missed their exams because they were in a trance, yet they passed. One said he missed two exams while in a trance yet he had a better score than those who sat for it. 99-year-old Nigerian man weds his 86-year-old partner in church after decades together.

  A 99-year-old man from Owerri, Imo State, and his partner, 86, wedded in church over the weekend after decades together.  One of their children, Michael Maduka took to Facebook on Satuday, August 21, to celebrate them. "Wow... Finally the did has Been Done!! Please friends Join me in Celebrating my Parents!! They are the Newest Couples in the Whole World. At Age 86 my mom still say... "Yes I Do" Again to my Daddy @ age 99. Lord I thank you for the Success of it!!" he wrote.  

CNN sacks three unvaccinated staffers

  CNN has fired three employees for entering its New York headquarters without being vaccinated for protection against COVID-19. This was disclosed in a memo from the cable news network’s president. “In the past week, we have been made aware of three employees who were coming to the office unvaccinated,” said the memo sent to CNN staff on Thursday, August 5, and obtained by the Times. “All three have been terminated. Let me be clear — we have a zero-tolerance policy on this,” added the memo. “You need to be vaccinated to come to the office. And you need to be vaccinated to work in the field, with other employees, regardless of whether you enter an office or not. Period.” The names of the dismissed employees were not revealed, according to two staffers at the WarnerMedia unit. Vaccinated employees have been allowed to return to CNN offices voluntarily.   A Chinese scientist, popularly called batwoman, has issued a stark warning that more deadly Covid variants are coming. Wuhan-based virologist Shi Zhengli is one of the world's top researchers on coronaviruses and has discovered dozens of deadly SARS-like viruses in bat caves. She studied samples taken from some of the first people to become infected with the new and then-mysterious respiratory illness in China in December and found it was similar to SARS. Nigerian national arrested with drugs worth over N500,000 in India

  Nigerian and Ivory Coast nationals with police A 35-year-old Nigerian national has been arrested for illegal possession of drugs worth Rs 94,000 (N522,563.26) in Anjuna, Goa.  The accused identified as Chizoba Boniface Okeke was caught red-handed when he came to deliver drugs to his prospective customers on Thursday, August 5.  The Anjuna police team led by LPSI Sneha Sawal, Head constable Shyamsundar Parekar along with police constable Sudesh Kerkar, Raj Parab, Rajesh Gokharnkar, Godhish Goltekar conducted a raid between 00.45 am to 3.40 am near a bar at Assagao and caught the Nigerian who had come to deliver psychotropic drug Ecstasy worth Rs 13,000 and amphetamine worth Rs 81,000 all worth Rs 94,000. Police said that the raid was conducted on reliable information and the accused had concealed drugs in the scooter bearing Registration no.   A mum and dad forgave the man who killed their only daughter in a car crash, even letting him move into their home while he awaited court trial. Grieving parents, Elizabeth and Fernando Jimenez lost their daughter Maria, a student at the University of Brighton, just weeks before her 24th birthday in 2017. Maria asked her friend Nick Tay to drive her home because she’d be drinking wine at a dinner with other members of their church music group. Nick agreed to drive her despite not having a valid driver's license and then crashed the car on the A3 outside Guildford, Surrey, after veering across two lanes and hitting the central reservation before flying off towards a verge.
